Camping June 2015 || Smith & Morehouse

Every year in June our family goes up to Smith & Morehouse. It is located in the Uintah's near the town of Oakley, Utah. The reservoir is open to motorized boats, though a wake-less speed is enforced, making it an excellent place for canoeing and kayaking. A boat ramp is located on the northwest shore. Visitors enjoy fishing for stocked rainbow trout and other native fish species.

Sean and I enjoy sharing a tent with our English Mastiff, Sloane.

Jameson is a typical toddler. He loves his kid car shows!

Steven, my brother in law preparing wood for our fire.

This place is beautiful

I love making delicious and refreshing drinks. This was delicious while I relaxed against the river.
2oz Gin
2 oz Tonic Water
2 oz Coconut Water
1-2 Lime wedges

I am not a fan of tin foil dinners or hobo dinners. So I decided to make a "fancier" version.
You will need: 1 pineapple
2 limes
1 salmon filet
honey
tin foil

Slice the limes and place on the tin foil. Layer the salmon on top of the limes. Zest some lime onto the salmon. Drizzle with honey. Then place the pineapple chunks on top. Wrap it up in tin foil and place on the fire for about 15 min.
Enjoy!

While we waited for our salmon dinner we played with some toys and all the puppies!

Finished product! Limes are not very appealing after they are cooked! It was delicious!

We love to roast starbursts around the fire pit!

My nephew has such an attitude! He is a cutie!

Sloane enjoying the chilly reservoir with the other pups!

Do not try this at home! Wink Wink! It is not easy getting an English Mastiff into a canoe! Its not exactly relaxing... more of an adventure! It gets sketchy when she tries to turn around. Sean and I just hold on and hope that the canoe does not tip over! Over all she is a pretty relaxed pup.

Many people were paddle boarding, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. The weather was hot but the reservoir was quite chilly, so we didn't end up jumping in.

Sean enjoyed a much needed relaxation trip. Reading alongside the river with a cold beer!

Jameson is my favorite 2 year old. He is adorable!

My sister Heather fishing.

I love making desserts, so obviously I had to create one for camping.
Supplies you will need:
Bananas
Mini Marshmallows
Waffle Cones
Chocolate chips
optional brownies
tin foil

Layer all these delicious items how you would like. My favorite was lots of bananas and brownies! Wrap in tinfoil and place on the very edge of the fire so they don't burn. Its a slow process, but they end up very delicious! It took about 15-20mins to melt everything together.

While relaxing around camp, Sean decided to make a boat to float on the river. He used one of his many crazy sharp knifes and chopped down local branches in our campground.

Playing movie charades with our friends and family

Sloane nestled in for a goodnights rest.

Steve taught Sean how to fly fish this weekend. He caught quite a few trout!

The reservoir has a rope swing! I was tempted to try it but the chilly water scared me away. But here are a few pics of some crazy teenagers!

Until next year! We love this campground!

    1. HI! Head to the south end of the reservoir ( by the parking lot) and follow the rock path towards the mountain side. Then head north along the reservoir and you will see it! Have fun!
